Ph.D. student Alyssa Green wins GLMS award
Congrats to Alyssa Green, dual PhD candidate in the Department of Integrative Biology and the Ecology, Evolution,
and Behavior Program, for winning the 2nd place poster in the life sciences category
at the Great Lakes Microscopy Society meeting!
This recognition for her poster on entitled “Using Microscopy Methods to Study Cilia and Flagella Phenotypes in CFAP221 Mutants” is based on her dissertation work in the Gallant electric fish lab trying to understand the genomic basis of aflagellete sperm in mormyrids, and was in collaboration with lab member Arely Cruz-Perez.
Her research included TEM in collaboration with the CAM's Dr. Alicia Withrow (shown here), SEM with Carol Flegler, and epifluorescence microscopy.
Many thanks to the GLMS and the organizers of the fall meeting!
