Dr. Sara Makaremi and an IQ-CAM partnership
The Center for Advanced Microscopy welcomes Dr. Sara Makaremi of the MSU IQ microscopy core in a new joint CAM-IQ partnership. Dr. Makaremi has been the Director of the IQ Microscopy
core facility since 2022. We're excited that CAM students, staff, and faculty to work
more closely with Dr. Makaremi at the CAM in addition to the IQ facility on advanced
fluorescence and confocal imaging methods. Please introduce yourself and say hello!
Dr. Makaremi received her B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto before pursuing graduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Western University (M.E.Sc.) and McMaster University (Ph.D.). Her research mainly focused on tracking membrane proteins in live cells using advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques including Raster Image Correlation Spectroscopy and Single Molecule Tracking. Before joining MSU, she was an Associate Editor at Wiley, working with the editorial team of Advanced Materials Interfaces and Small Science. She also served as Editor for Microscopy Society of Canada for several years. She has coauthored a book titled “Fluorescent Microscopy,” published by Methods in Molecular Biology (volume 2440).
